House in The Netherlands: Architecture and Sculpture Combined

A project by Rocha Tombal Architecten , this house seems to be the product of “sculpting” aside from being of an architectural value. The exterior design looksÂ almost surreal with its windows “coming out” of the actual building. The unexpected architecture is also reflected in the original interior design. Rooms are given an unusual touch, walls don’t end where you would expect them to, which is why furniture had to be “adapted”. Due to the fact that the house is surrounded by a vast green space, almost every room has a beautiful view of the so called “garden”.

What do you do if one day you see that the home you’re living in, no longer suits your family’s needs? Most people would probably sell and buy something bigger. But not if you’re architect Adams Mohler Ghillino and if it’s the 810 SF, single-story house in Seattleâ€™s Queen Anne neighborhood. Previously a single-story environment, Ghillino has decided to expand the space by adding another level to the house and creating two distinct areas defined by a cedar-clad wood wall. As for the connection between the interior and the exterior, it fades away by using slide-fold doors. Lots of painted cement fiber siding, tight knot cedar plank feature wall, plywood soffits, aluminum windows and a Zincalume sheet metal roofing, have lead to a real piece of art. We love it!
