Have yo ever considered having a really wacky carpet in your home? Desigend by Jason Amendolara, these sewer mats- that’s right, this is what they’re called- are certain to spice up a dull entrance. They can be used as welcoming carpets, but no one says they can not be integrated in a room’s interior design. In fact, having more of them on the same floor could create a fun street theme. The indoor/outdoor mats measure 24 in diameter, are made from recycled truck tires and are being sold online for the sum of $25. We found a purchasing place here. The graphics include reproductions of some of the world’s famous city sewers (funny, huh?) like Paris, London, Chicago and so on. What do you think- really cool, really crazy or both?
Even though more and more sustainable projects are being built lately, we didn’t see this coming: you are looking at the world’s first sky-scraper to have wind turbines. Nicknamed “The Razor”, this incredible structure is located in London and measures 148 meters. The official name of the project is “Strata SE! Tower”, a building equipped with three wind turbines, that will ensure 8% of the structure’s total energy consumption. Here are some words from the official website: “Strata SE1 comprises a £113.5 million investment in the area by Brookfield Europe and will provide 408 high quality apartments in two prestigious architecturally distinguished buildings, the Tower and the Pavilion, both with space for shops and restaurants below.” Do you believe this is a revolutionary building?- via Inhabitat
From 10 to 24 March 2010, IKEA develops an interesting event in four important metro stations in Paris. Furniture collections are currently displayed in high-traffic spots, giving the potential customers a chance to interact with the brand by checking out the products. The subway walls are also filled with prints that showcase IKEA interiors. What a creative way to do advertising! Moreover, this action completely changes the way the Paris subway station look and creates a cool atmosphere. Imagine waiting for the train n a comfortable sofa! We are certain this is the sort of event that French people will talk of for years to come. What do you think of this idea?
The innovative office has a comfortable sitting place, a fold-out laptop stand, a cool table lamp and even a special coffee-cup place. Shelves are also available and there is plenty of storage space for books, files and other desk-related items. Four Works is available in black and white and occupies a small amount of space in comparison to other similar desks. This makes it the kind of workstation that would fit great in a small apartment or a room with little available space. via Home Tone

Designed by Sarah Lovgren this modular lounge named la bande can be modified to be used as both a seat and a recliner. Developed in comparison with Franzi Kohlhoff, the furniture splits up into two independent sections at one end of the bande, while the longitudinal split and the flexibility of the material allows the two sections to bend separately to form space. Both the sections of the bande are hooked into a slot in the base, which gives stability of the furniture to rest the users in utmost comfort. This project was a result of the designer's bachelor thesis, space in the context of its sensual perception and Sarah had Franzi Kohlhoff as a project partner.
