Located in Atlantic Beach, New York, this impressive display of architecture comes from Belmont Freeman Architects and is a symbol of modern design. In a community of 1920's and 30's homes, this project comes to break the pattern and impose contemporaneity. We are not fond of this idea, however the building team considers that the the Kowalewski residence remains “respectful of the scale and architectural traditions of the community”. Overall, we think the house has some pretty cool architecture features, such as the irregular shape or the vertical window section which brakes monotony and seems to split the building in two unequal parts. The round window is also of great aesthetic effect. Still, in our opinion, homes should lose the rigid feel and stick to a design that inspires a homey atmosphere. From architect Manuel Ribeiro, Aveledas House is located in Portugal, next to Bracara Augustae, an old Roman city. The main idea of the design took its roots from the fact that ancient Roman homes were usually built around a square. Here is a statement from the designer about this: We tried to take the most of the land to create a connection with the interior of the building, leaving a view of the valley and the square that exists between the two bodies housing.” The residence has a complex architecture plan and houses 4 bedrooms, a gym, two large bathrooms with an impressive design. Outside there is a giant pool, typical for this type of building. The interior design is modern, with contemporary furniture and interesting decorative items. Even though this house looks fantastic, we can’t help but wondering why the owners need so many rooms.

Jennifer Aniston’s latest “friends” hang-out place, is located in Beverly Hills. The initial project (the house that the actress bought) was built in the 70’s, but recently, Jennifer had a do-over, by hiring a specialized team of architects and designers. The mansion is meant to set an example on the Eco-housing market, as it features plenty of solar panels, a reflective metal roof and even drought-resistant plants in the garden. The house has 9,000 square foot and no less than six-bedroom and seven bathrooms. The interior is flashy and colorful, designed by Hal Levitt, a very known artist in the world of Hollywood homes. The unusual and vivid furniture is combined with many lighting effects. What do you think of this home? Please take a look at the pictures and tell us your opinion.

The project comes from Gibson Architects and was initially looked upon with disbelief. Building a house in the middle of nature and at that height seemed like a huge step. However, the plans took off and the results are spectacular. The interior features elements like boulders and natural stone and wood. Here are some words from the designer :”Using what was considered by most to be an unbuildable granite outcropping, I took advantage of the variety and cascading effect of the natural granite to create a house which evolved into seven levels revolving around the main central fireplace built into the largest granite boulder.” We salute this idea and we hope to bring you many more homes that interact with nature at this level.
