You’ve seen a lot of posts lately here on Freshome that relate to the idea of stone as a building material. Today we will take this concept and mess around with it a bit. How do you feel about stone walls? W found some interesting interiors that in our opinion look stunning and also very original. It is true, having stone walls can usually lead to a cold environment, but what if one could “customize” them a little in order to create a warm and homey place? For example the stone walls could surround a fireplace or have embedded shelves for picture frames or books. A single stone wall is enough to make an interior stand out, but the more the merrier. Just be careful in order to maintain the desired atmosphere!

Almost 6000 square feet house was build with a lot of natural materials like wood, stone and marble so even with its contemporary and urban design it blends well with surroundings. It’s open towards the street and can be accessed from there crossing over a fountain from which a huge oak tree grows. There is also a small oak forest that was left in the garden. Thanks to the fact that the living room conceived almost as a glass box, views of this garden and of the Sierra Madre peaks could be experienced from there. There is also a fireplace in the house where the family gather during cold winters.

The place stretches 5,200 sq. ft. and houses 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a spa, a huge soaking tub and a giant outdoor pool. The furniture is a combination of old and new, with a lot of interesting details. We really took a liking in the piano room, with the wooden centered table, painting and the fireplace. Bedrooms are painted in white and each of them has at least one distinctive element: a door with shelves, interesting and luxurious carpets, classic chairs. Every room can be characterized by volume and a particular style. The place also “offers” amazing views on the city and the near-by hills. via TMZ

The project comes from Gibson Architects and was initially looked upon with disbelief. Building a house in the middle of nature and at that height seemed like a huge step. However, the plans took off and the results are spectacular. The interior features elements like boulders and natural stone and wood. Here are some words from the designer :”Using what was considered by most to be an unbuildable granite outcropping, I took advantage of the variety and cascading effect of the natural granite to create a house which evolved into seven levels revolving around the main central fireplace built into the largest granite boulder.” We salute this idea and we hope to bring you many more homes that interact with nature at this level.
