From artist Paul Villinski comes this mind blowing interior butterfly pattern that challenges the idea of conventional designs. Made from beer cans gathered off the streets of New York City, Paul patiently crafted these butterflies one by one and hand made stunning wall designs. We are not aware of how the process goes exactly, but we really like the end result. Aesthetic and functional, these amazing arrays of butterflies could go well with the already existing wallpapers or paintings or even replace them if needed. Just imagine what you could do with such a design in the kids’ room. We enjoy the way they look in the pictures and we assume that they are connected in a way that is transparent.

Tired of old fashioned lighting and common lamps? Brenda Houston came up with these unusual “rocky” design meant to brake the pattern of sober and dull lighting. The “recipe” could not be easier to follow: take a normal lamp and a add an eccentric rock at the bottom. We don’t know about you guys, but these crazy designs really got to us. We think they would go great in an original and modern interior, with simple but creative arrangements. Most of the items come in black and white. The difference is made by the colorful rock and as you can see, there are plenty of colors to chose from. You can find out more about these products by visiting the designer’s web page- just in case we stirred up your interest.

Raye Street House is momentarily the name of the imposing house you see in the pictures below. But its construction came with a giant challenge. Ryan Rhodes Designs and Jason Rhodes (Attorney/Principal JMR Law Group) were the ones to notice the land’s potential and made it so that the home took advantage of its natural surrounding. Located on the top of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, Washington, this residence was initially a warn-down building before the Rhodes took over in 2006. A large yard is located to the South part of the construction site and the large windows of the house ensure a panoramic view. The Raye Street House is said to be a combination of modern and traditional in matters of architecture. As for its interior design, you will notice the contemporary touch. What do you think of this home?

Enrico Dini, an Italian designer and architect came up with the revolutionary idea of a machine that prints…buildings. His invention-a 3D printer momentarily located in Pisa, Italy- is said to look like a “prototype for the automotive industry” and combines the functionality of computer architecture programs with the printer mechanism. Instead of paper, the material introduced in the machine is sand that is further on shaped in the desired form, computer-configured in advance. The designer says this process is “four times faster than conventional building, costs a third to a half as much as using Portland cement, creates little waste and is better for the environment.” Even though the design is able to “construct” relatively small projects, Dini wants to take this idea further and stated: “What I really want to do is to use the machine to complete the Sagrada Familia.” -via Blueprint Magazine

When you hear of iron being used as a decorative indoor element, the last thing that comes to mind is comfort. After all, iron is the type of material that is quite the opposite: cold and rigid. But take a look at these interesting designs below. From Murillo, these examples of iron frame furniture stand out due to their originality and awesome looks. We do not know this for sure but we dare imply that they are also mighty comfortable. Perfect for the outdoor patio, these items also fit great in an unconventional room design. We can’t help imagining them being accompanied by other fancy iron decors, such as a candle support for example. How do you like these unusual chairs and sofas?
